The Ljungström family office co-led AnaCardio AB's €62.5 million Series B alongside Novo Holdings, Family Office Hub reported.
The Series B fully funds GOAL-HF2, a Phase 2b trial that will enrol about 400 patients at roughly 100 sites in twelve countries.
The two announced rounds total €130 million, but Family Office Hub does not break out Ljungström's individual commitments.
The Ljungström family office co-led AnaCardio AB's €62.5 million Series B alongside Novo Holdings, Family Office Hub reported. Two days earlier the same office joined Breye Therapeutics' €67.5 million Series A as a new investor, according to the report.
AnaCardio, a privately held Swedish clinical-stage company based in Solna, was founded on research from the Karolinska Institutet by Lars H. Lund. Its lead asset, AC01, works through the ghrelin signalling pathway; Family Office Hub describes it as making the heart muscle contract harder without the racing heart, arrhythmia, ischemia and blood-pressure drop that caused earlier contractility drugs to fail.
The Series B fully funds GOAL-HF2, a Phase 2b trial that will enrol about 400 patients at roughly 100 sites in twelve countries. First enrolment is expected in the fourth quarter of 2026, with a Phase 3-ready asset targeted for 2028, according to the report.
In the earlier GOAL-HF1 trial, 58 patients were treated across 14 sites. In the 3 mg group, cardiac output rose 22% from baseline at day 28 and ejection fraction rose 4.8 percentage points, against 1.6 points for placebo; results were presented in May 2026 and published in The Lancet in June, Family Office Hub reports.
Breye takes danegaptide into Phase 2
Breye Therapeutics ApS, based in Hørsholm in Denmark, is developing orally administered drugs for eye disease. Its lead asset, danegaptide, is described as a first-in-class oral small molecule for non-proliferative diabetic retinopathy, a condition the report says affects roughly 130 million people worldwide and is currently treated, when treated at all, by injection into the eye. Mission BioCapital and Novo Holdings co-led the Series A, which takes danegaptide into a randomised Phase 2 trial starting in 2027.
The two announced rounds total €130 million, but Family Office Hub does not break out Ljungström's individual commitments. Family Office Hub says one of the two investments carried a board seat, but it does not identify which.
